Exhibition "Quiet Land"
117 watercolour paintings by the great Bulgarian artist Vasil Chakuroff (1934 - 2018) will be on display in the exhibition "Quiet Land" at the Kapana Gallery of the City Gallery of Fine Arts - Plovdiv from 28 April to 28 May 2023.
The official opening is on Friday, April 28, at 18.00 in the Kapana Gallery.
About Vasil Chakuroff Ruzha Marinska writes:
"The watercolour to which Vasil Chakyarov has devoted himself is also a choice , corresponding to the character. A difficult choice. In this technique, synonymous with lightness and free inspiration, Vasil Chakarov builds, and before that thinks, with tension almost every spill of the stain. His watercolours are unlike anyone else's. They have a pictorial density and a particular seriousness".
Vasil Chakarov was born on 30 April 1934 in Bagrentsi, Kyustendil region. Most of his life passed in Samokov. He painted watercolours, oil paintings, made prints and cartoons. He is the winner of the 2008 Zachary Zograf National Prize (shared with Magda Abazova). He has exhibitions in Sofia City Art Gallery, in the gallery of the Union of Bulgarian Art Gallery at 6 Shipka Street in Sofia, in the Laurent Gallery in Sofia, numerous galleries in Sofia, in Samokov, Kyustendil, in the Romfeya Gallery - Plovdiv, Sliven, Blagoevgrad.
His paintings are in collections in Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Denmark and other countries in Europe.
