The fourth edition of "The Way to the Top" with more than 50 artists, spread across 6 stages, will take over the Bunardzhika hill. On June 29, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 10:30 PM, the residents of Plovdiv and visitors to the city will have the opportunity to enjoy classical, jazz, and pop music, along with a DJ and numerous surprises, including audience participation on improvised stages.

At the top of Bunardzhika hill, there will be a major concert - ABBA SYMPHONIE featuring Lucy Diakovska and Militsa Gladnishka alongside the Pleven Philharmonic - one of the first orchestras in Bulgaria to break out of its traditional program and repertoire. This will all be under the baton of the young and talented conductor Georgi Miltiadov, who is also the arranger and pianist. The concert at the top begins at 9:00 PM. "ABBA Symphonie" includes songs from the eternally beloved Swedish quartet in an entirely new symphonic arrangement.

On the 6 stages, we will also see Hot Club De Plovdiv, the "Orchestra for All" - House of Musical Wonders "Divizi" and CNST "Children's House," Children Meet Jazz – Music Space, Keiko Tanaka – flute, Brass Quartet "Augusta Trayana," Martin Denev DJ set, and Gallery "Eterna."

Stage 1 – AQUEDUCT, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM
"Orchestra for All," House of Musical Wonders "Divizi" with engaging musical activities for young and old, concert of children's chamber ensembles, Children's Orchestra "Divizi" and Chamber Orchestra with soloists Boris and Simeon Stoychevi – students at NUMTI "Dobrin Petkov," Plovdiv. Conducted by Ivan Rusev - student at AMTII "Prof. Asen Diamandiev," Plovdiv. The conceptual idea is by Assoc. Prof. Diana Petkova.

Stage 2 – ALLEY IN FRONT OF THE SUMMER THEATER BUNARDZHIKA, starts at 4:00 PM
Gallery "Eterna" welcomes children and their parents to the children's workshop "Draw the Summer with Chalk," under the expert guidance of art educators.
Concert "Children Meet Jazz" – an open educational stage with no age restrictions. Young and old will be able to improvise together with established jazz musicians. In this extraordinary journey, participants will be guided by Petar Koichev - guitar, Zhivko Bratanov – piano, Preslav Peev – saxophone, Hristo Minchev – bass, Alexander Kamenov – drums, Svetlina Hristova – host and vocalist. The concert will feature children and youth performers from the Music Center Music Space.

Stage 3 – FITNESS AREA, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM
Concert of Brass Quartet "Augusta Trayana" from Stara Zagora. The unique trombone brass quartet will present a rich repertoire from different eras and genres, evergreen and contemporary jazz pieces. The ensemble of virtuoso trombonists was formed by the idea of Stilian Mitev, long-time leader of the trombone group in the orchestra of the State Opera - Stara Zagora. He gathered the talents Dimitar Tenev, Dimitar Dimitrov, and the group's diamond Katrin Shul, who are also part of the opera's orchestra.

Stage 4 – JAZZ, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM
Concert of "Hot Club de Plovdiv" - a jazz quartet oriented towards the roots of gypsy jazz. The group consists of Petar Koichev (guitar), Lyubomir Tolumbadzhiev (violin), Momchil Angelov (guitar), and Hristo Minchev (double bass). The four musicians follow the authentic swing sound of Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli from the early to mid-20th century. A journey through time and the "golden years of European jazz."

Stage 5 – THE LAST TURN ON THE WAY TO THE TOP, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM
Concert of flutist Keiko Tanaka. She was born in Japan and is currently the principal flutist of the State Opera - Stara Zagora.

Stage 6 – AT THE TOP, starts at 7:30 PM
DJ Martin Denev presents his new DJ set. Martin is a pianist, keyboardist, composer, and DJ. He graduated from the Music School in Plovdiv with piano, then the Conservatory in Rotterdam, Netherlands, majoring in Jazz. He then spent a year studying Jazz Piano at Berklee, Boston, and then Latin Piano in Santiago de Cuba. Martin has participated in hundreds of festivals and forums on five continents and has shared the stage with some of the most prominent musicians and singers of our time. In "The Way to the Top," Martin Denev is participating once again, and he has prepared an interesting program.
From 9:00 PM - ABBA SYMPHONIE concert featuring Lucy Diakovska, Militsa Gladnishka, and the Pleven Philharmonic, conducted by Georgi Miltiadov. The concert duration is 1 hour and 30 minutes.

The organizer of "The Way to the Top 4" is the Municipality of Plovdiv, Department of Culture, Archaeology, and Cultural Heritage, with the assistance of the Central District. The program curator is the Art Connection Foundation, led by jazz musician Petar Salchev. Admission to all concerts is free!
