Archaeology for Everyone: Philippopolis and the Letters
Saturday, July 26th at 10:30 a.m.
Regional Archaeological Museum – Plovdiv

What languages echoed through the streets of ancient Philippopolis? Who were the people that called this city home over the millennia – from prehistory to the Middle Ages?
In this edition of "Archaeology for Everyone", we’ll explore the linguistic and cultural diversity of the city and trace the evolution of writing – from Thracian symbols and the Greek alphabet to Latin inscriptions and Old Bulgarian Cyrillic. We’ll discover how words, letters, and languages tell the story of one of the oldest cities in Europe.
Advance registration is required – at the museum, by phone at 032/624 339, or via social media.
