The Idiot Calls Three Times, Theatrical performance
Sunday, 15 February, at 7 p.m.
Boris Hristov House of Culture

A euphoric theatrical comedy with elements of absurdity, as well as a touch of drama, melodrama, satire, and two or three more genres unknown to art.
“The Idiot Calls Three Times” is an absurd comedy about a man who loves to the point of madness, a woman who always has an excuse, and a friend who is “just stopping by.” Laughter, despair, and a slightly breathless existential panic are served with the intelligent cruelty through which Hanoch Levin masterfully turns human foolishness into art. A story of passion, self-deception, and the eternal need to believe that “this time it will be different.” Judge Lamka is convinced he has found the woman of his life—elevated, proper, and, of course, “modest.” Yet behind her tears and romantic sighs lies not love, but a well-coordinated diplomatic corps of admirers. While Lamka philosophizes about love, grows jealous with elegance, and suffers with dignity, the world around him falls apart with Olympic calm. And the doorbell—it rings. Three times.
