A performance that takes the audience deep into Bulgaria’s folkloric heritage. It traces the ethnographic regions along the Maritsa River and reveals the richness of traditions and customs that inspired the team of the “Tkakia” Folk Ensemble in creating this project.
The creative thread of the performance “By the Maritsa” follows the river from its source—the areas around Samokov—and moves through the songs and dances of the Pazardzhik region. In Plovdiv, the ethnic diversity is woven into a special suite, forming an artistic portrayal of the multifaceted city. On the way to the Aegean region, the audience will immerse themselves in the festive spirit of the celebrations in the Parvomay area.
