The World Rowing Cups are an annual series of regattas that serve as preparation for the World Rowing Championships. The World Rowing Cups are held over three days and include a progression system—from heats to finals. The competitions feature the 12 Olympic boat classes, as well as selected international boat classes.
Each Olympic boat class earns points according to its ranking. The highest-placed boat from each country receives the following points: 1st place = 8 points, 2nd place = 6 points, 3rd place = 5 points, 4th place = 4 points, 5th place = 3 points, 6th place = 2 points, 7th place = 1 point.
