The Bulgarian Dress, Concert Performance
Sunday, September 6, at 9 p.m.
Ancient Theatre

At the heart of the performance is The Bulgarian Dress—the largest Bulgarian dress ever created, a remarkable artistic installation made from thousands of hand-crocheted lace motifs crafted by more than 400 women from every region of Bulgaria. Hundreds of volunteers from different generations have woven their time, stories, and love for their homeland into a shared symbol of unity under the motto "All of Bulgaria in One Dress."
The production transforms this extraordinary artwork into a powerful stage experience where music, visual art, dance, and light come together to tell a story of memory, tradition, and the enduring spirit of Bulgaria.
The performance features the Plovdiv Opera Orchestra, conducted by Dian Chobanov; the Academic Folk Choir, led by conductor and composer Kostadin Buradzhiev; the VAYA Quartet; music by composer Nedy John Cross; and direction by Stanimira Manolova.
The scenic and visual design is created by Petko Tanchev, whose innovative use of 3D projection mapping transforms the stage of the Ancient Theatre into a space where Bulgaria's past and present meet.
The Bulgarian Dress brings together folklore, classical music, contemporary performing arts, and cutting-edge visual technology in a spectacular concert-performance that does more than tell the story of Bulgaria—it unites the nation on a single stage.
