Plovdiv Jazz Fest 2016 presents a musical journey through some of the most famous themes of jazz composer/trumpeter Kenny Wheeler.
 Praised as one of the most innovative soloists of his time, Wheeler expanded and crossed musical boundaries during his half-century long career. Many of his compositions have marked the history of jazz and are considered as standards.

Kenny Wheeler recorded more than 20 albums that find their place among the best examples of the genre in the 20th century. Among the many musical greats with whom he collaborated are Keith Jarrett, Michael Brecker, Steve Coleman, Jan Garbarek, Paul Gonsalves, Dave Holland, John Taylor, Jack DeJohnette, Norma Winstone, Anthony Braxton, Lee Konitz, Bill Frisell, Evan Parker and more.

David Linx was born in Brussels on March 22, 1965. Singer, composer lyricist, producer and multi-instrumentalist, he has recorded 15 albums as leader and co-leader and has participated numerous times as guest in different jazz projects. Linx has been honored with dozens of awards, among which the Grand Prix of the Academy Charles Cros, the title Chevalier of Arts and Letters appointed by the Minister of Culture in France, Jazz Adami’s Award for lifetime achievement and more. He was named Chevalier of the Crown by the Minister of Culture in Belgium.

Since the beginning of the 80s he worked with many outstanding musicians, among whom The Count Basie Orchestra, Frank Foster, Toots Thielemans, Paolo Fresu, Erik Truffaz, Billy Cobham, Richard Galliano, Kenny Wheeler, Ivan Lins, Omara Portuondo, Steve Coleman, Viktor Lazlo, Bob Stewart, Maria Joao, David Gilmore, Ibrahim Maalouf…

During Plovdiv Jazz Fest David Linx will also hold a master class for young performers. The workshop will be dedicated to the special vocal technique he uses and develops.
