Children’s Railway “Banner of Peace”
The “Banner of Peace” Children’s Railway is located at the foot of Youth Hill (Mladezhki Halm). First opened on September 23, 1979, the railway is a true attraction not only for children but also for their parents, city residents, and visitors.
In 2007, the railway was completely renovated, giving it its current appearance. The train, consisting of a locomotive and three carriages, begins its journey at Pioneer Station, which features a platform, two tracks, and a signal light. The ride lasts approximately 25 minutes. The route passes through scenic hilly terrain, crossing a bridge, a barrier-controlled level crossing, and a 50-meter tunnel. After exiting the tunnel, the train reaches a favorite part for many kids — an elevated track (viaduct) shaped like the number 6, stretching 125 meters. Soon after, the train stops at Panorama Station, where passengers can get off to enjoy the breathtaking view from the hill and take photos of the city. After the short stop, the train returns to Pioneer Station.
A special access ramp for children with disabilities is installed at Pioneer Station.
