Exposition of hammam structures in the courtyard of Kuyumjioglu House
REGIONAL ETHNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM - PLOVDIV
Official opening of
exposed hammam structures
in the courtyard of Kuyumjiaglu House
The latest discovery in the courtyard of the Regional Ethnographic Museum - Plovdiv is a hammam from the Ottoman period (16th - beginning of 17th century). It was discovered during the facade restoration of the building in 2017. The study showed that during the construction of Argir Kuyumjioglu's house (1847), the hammam building was already demolished. On the spot, three hammam rooms were identified.
The exposed remains represent the character of the construction, and the partially preserved original plasters from the inside of the hammam are integrated into the general conservation project.
