BAS with an exhibition in Plovdiv "The City In The Balkans: spaces, faces, memory in postcards"
The Institute of Balkan Studies with the Center for Thracology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences organizes a new edition of the exhibition "The City In The Balkans: Spaces, Faces, Memory in Postcards". It will be presented in Plovdiv in Tsar Simeon's Garden - Alley of the Fountain "Demetra" from 12 to 26 June 2020.
This edition of the exhibition is carried out in partnership with the Municipality of Plovdiv and Plovdiv University "Paisii Hilendarski" under the National Research Program "Cultural and Historical Heritage, National Memory and Social Development", funded by the Ministry of Education and Science.
Postcards from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the digital era present the cultural diversity of the Bulgarian and a number of Balkan cities. Emblematic spaces are sealed, which form the image of the Balkans in the course of modern history. The exhibition features the entry of the ancient and medieval architectural heritage in the urban environment of modern settlements.
The official opening of the exhibition will be on June 12, 2020 (Friday) from 18:00 in Tsar Simeon's Garden - Alley of the Fountain "Demeter".
