The monument is created by the sculptor Nikolay Savov. Khan Krum is depicted in full length, with full military equipment and armor, holding a sword in his hand, on horseback. The monument, over 10 meters in height, was built with donations from Plovdiv patriotic residents and opened officially on June 4, 2007.
