Plovdiv Opera Orchestra

The prominent Bulgarian violinist Vesko Panteleev-Eshkenazi presents the remarkable musical cycles "The Four Seasons" by Antonio Vivaldi and "Four Seasons" by Astor Piazzolla. Vivaldi and Piazzolla - bright representatives of different musical cultures give us two different versions of the same theme. Music written in the early 18th century in Italy - exquisite and poetic, which tells about nature, as well as music of passions, light and darkness, love and hate, created in the middle of the 20th century in Argentina.

22.08 (Saturday), 20:30 h.
Music of Peace
LENINGRAD SYMPHONY Shostakovich

"Music of Peace" is an international music project, a dialogue about peaceful coexistence, a celebration of human strength and spirit. The project includes the performance of Shostakovich's Leningrad Symphony by orchestras in Berlin, Vienna, Plovdiv and Torgau, as well as by the Baltic Sea Symphony Orchestra.
Plovdiv Opera Orchestra
As always with Shostakovich, this Symphony is not dedicated to the city - whatever it is called, not to the event, but to the people. To those who died of starvation, of cold, of shells and bombs ... of despair. There is no politics here: there is a struggle of terrible, banal evil with man. The symphony is rarely played because of its scale, huge composition, difficulty, alas - and because of political prejudices ... And now Plovdiv has the chance to hear it, to feel the thrill of the famous theme of the invasion and to experience the powerful catharsis that music leads to.
Entrance by invitation

Soloists: Stanislava Momekova, Georgi Sultanov, Elena Chavdarova - Isa, Ivaylo Dzhurov
Choir and Orchestra of the Plovdiv Opera
Beethoven's Ninth Symphony is probably the most powerful musical utopia known to mankind; the musical testimony "The Survivor of Warsaw" - the most frightening anti-utopia. The gates of Heaven and the wind of an angel's wing - and the doors of the gas chamber. Two choral hymns to the Deity, coming from the very depths of the hearts. The idea to combine these two polar works is the idea to delineate the boundaries of the human today. Let's get excited - Through music and in the name of music.
