Octet Plovdiv, an instrumental jazz band formed for the inaugural edition of Plovdiv Jazz Fest, will play on November 3, the only all-instrumental evening of the festival.The band was created by pianist Miroslav Turiisky who also composed the music for this concert. Plovdiv Jazz Fest invites you to hear the new album of JP3. Between the world was released in the beginning of June 2015. It includes nine original tracks by Jivko Petrov and Vesselin Vesselinov – Eko. Guest musicians in the album are string “Arena” quartet – Plamena Jekova (violin), Orlin Tzvetanov (violin), Valentin Gerov (viola) and Hristo Tanev (cello). The album is a mystical music journey which will fascinate all jazz fans. JP3 (Jivko Petrov Trio) are Jivko Petrov (piano), Vesselin Vesselinov – Eko (bass), Dimitar Semov (drums). The trio formed in 2004 and quickly became one of the most successful Bulgarian jazz formations. Two years later, after tens of club and festival appearances, the trio released the first ever live concert DVD in Bulgaria. In November 2006, their performance at the Military club in Sofia was recorded and filmed for the DVD Understandable. The trio released its first studio album It’s a Dream in 2012 with guest musician Vasko Vassilev. The choir Detska Kitka (Children’s nosegay) is one of the oldest children girl’s choirs in Bulgaria with more than 700 concerts in Bulgaria and abroad, including 47 concert tours in fifteen European countries. The choir comprises of girls between 11 and 19 years old, from 28 Plovdiv schools. On November, 3 the choir will perform at Plovdiv Jazz Fest 2015 with two jazz standards – Lullaby of Birdland by George Shearing and It Don’t Mean a Thing by Duke Ellington, arranged by Mac Huff. Joining the choir will be Jerry Martin on saxophone, Dimitar Semov on drums and Sonya Zapryanova on piano.
