Presents the private collection of Ahmet Can Karapinar
ROYAL BULGARIAN BANKNOTES,
MEDALS, ORDERS, HONORARY SIGNS
Ahmet Can Karapinar was born in 1997 in Istanbul. He is the son of a family who immigrated to Turkey from Kardzhali, Bulgaria in 1989. He is a history student in Bogazici University/Istanbul and a collector of Bulgarian and Ottoman banknotes, coins, medals, orders, badges etc. He is studying on articles about history especially on numismatics. In the future he wants to be a history academician.
Everything started with some old coins and a 2 Leva 1974 banknote which was given to him by his father when he was 7 years old. This become the seed of his collection. He started to collect Bulgarian banknotes, medals and other stuff professionally when he was 13 years old. He is interested in the items from Principality (1878 – 1908) and Kingdom era (1908 – 1944).
Ahmet tells about his exhibit: “My ancestors lived in these lands and used these items. It is a great pleasure to feel the history of them in these items. And I want to share this with people of the Philippolis/Filibe/Plovdiv.”
The exhibit “Royal Bulgarian Banknotes, Medals, Orders & Honorary Signs” by Ahmet Can Karapinar will be on display from September 1st to 7th in the exhibition hall of Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv, 2 Dr. Stoyan Chomakov str.
