Over 200 Wines from 32 Cellars will Compete for the First Dionysus Awards

For the first time Dionysus Awards will be presented to the participants of the 8th edition of Young Wine Parade, which will take place in the Old Town next Friday. Over 200 wines from 32 cellars will compete for the "Wine Oscars". "We will present Bronze, Silver and Golden "Dionyses". We do hope to give away a Platinum "Dionysus", as well, to the wines with outstanding quality."- shared Lyubozar Fratev, Chairman of Tourism Council - Plovdiv. 

He added that the number of wine producers attending the 8th edition of the festival will be break any records in comparison with previous years - 24 attendants in 2014 and 26 in 2015. The sponsors from the Municipality of Plovdiv and Tourism Council expect the number of tourists visiting the vine nectar's parade to also go beyond previous years' records. In 2014, 12 thousand visitors have joined the event, and their number has reached 15 thousand last year. "The wheater is always good, when the wine is good. Nothing can stop wine-lovers." - added Mr. Fratev. 

The Young Wine Parade will be opened on Friday with Dionysus Parade, accompanied by the mastery piper Teodosyi Spasov. Wine tasing events will be held on 12 key locations in the Old Town. Municipal Institute Old Plovdiv has provided two magnificent Revival buildings for the purpose - The Old Pharmacy Hippocrates and Birdas House, shared the Manager of the Institute Minko Kaftanski.

Diverese cultural program will be accompanying the tastings of white, rose and red wines. Dancers from Folklore Ensemble Trakia will take care of the visitors' good mood. In the Ethno House Turkish, Macedon, Russian, Armenian and Italian wines will be tasted. 

"The contest can be attended with up to 3 samples per producer. We will evaluate the finished, as well as the not-yet-ready semples." - announced the jury's chairman Jordanka Alexieva from the Food Technologies University in Plovdiv. The jury presents experts in wine-production and sommeliers, who will evaluate the grape's and wine's qualities, the harmony achieved, their ecological character and potential. 

The coordinators of Young Wine Parade have created a mobile app in order to help visitors find the particular location for tasting the desired wines.
