There are musical genres that must be felt with all the senses and have to be heard live. As the Portuguese blues, called fado. A good representative of this genre is precisely Cristina Branco, which will touch our souls with her sensual songs.
Cristiana Branco’s music recreates the Portuguese blues (fado), with modern instrumentalities, but in a way so that it doesn’t lose its romantic nostalgia. Translated from Portuguese "fado" means fate.Cristina’s texts are based on the different fates of various characters. Love, jealousy, joy and sorrow go hand- in- hand in the symbolics of Portuguese fado. It finds its historical basis in the times of seafaring Portugal, but this melancholic and inspiring music is alive and real up to the present
Today fado is represented by many voices all over the world, but among them stands out that of Cristina Branco. Twenty years ago, she dreams of being a journalist. Today, after 13 albums and 17 years on stage Cristino Branco will prove to the audiences in Plovdiv that fado is not just a tradition but it can be original and live through the interpretation.
On 7th of June she will present her program, called "Idealist" in Plovdiv, in the company of the musicians: Rikrado Dias - piano, Bernardo Kuoto - Portuguese guitar, Mario Pereira - guitar, Benardo Moreira - contrabass. The reason for her visit is 10th of June- the national holiday of Portugal and the Camões Institute as well as the introduction of Portuguese as an optional subject in secondary and university education in Plovdiv.
Branco’s concert will be on June 7th at the Ancient Theater in Plovdiv at 21:00 p.m.

One of the musi events of the season in the city under the hills is organized by Jazz Plus with the support of Camões Institute and the Embassy of Portugal.
