A Night in Blue

Sofia state ballet will perform George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue”, choreography and direction by Violina Topalova, and Chopin’s “The Concert”, choreography by Jerome Robbins. In harmony with the symbolism and the messages of Gershwin’s rhapsody, the director’s vison represents images of the night sky and a big pale moon. Chopin’s “The Concert” is a comic ballet masterpiece. Full of ridiculous twists and turns, it starts off as a classical concert, but in the end the dancers turn into butterflies. Choreographer Jerome Robbins, a Broadway legend, won 5 Tony awards and 2 Oscars for “Westside Story”
