The course aims at giving information to those that have no previous preparation on Modern Art. Consists of 5 lectures- 3 of them will try to explain what Modern Art is and the paths and ways of its expression, the last two will aim at giving you precise information on Bulgarian Modern Art History. Special attention will be paid to the places and ways Modern Art is shown to us.The audience will get to know the most important and basic museums,galleries,expositions in the world. The last two lectures will focus on the Bulgarian territory of Modern Art. The last but one will cover the period from 1984-1994- the period of unconventional Art and the last one will talk about 1995-2005- the years of institutionalizing and making Bulgarian Modern Art professional and having its entrance onto the World's Art Scene.
The course is for all of you that want to learn more about the artists, expositions,museums and mostly the ideas that move the art from the 60s until now. It is for people with no previous preparation but love spending their time at expositions at home or abroad.
Vesela Nojaorva is a curator and a critic that works free-lance. She has worked as a programme manager for Red House in Sofia and in 2007 is a curator for the Bulgarian national participation in 52 Venice Bienale for Modern Art, in 2008 is an assistant curator at the Architecture Bienale in Venice. She has been a curator at many expositions in and out of Bulgaria.
