- POETRY AND SHORT ANIMATIONS
The excellent idea to combine poetry and animation occurred to Compote Collective – the activists for new Bulgarian animation you cannot have missed around. They asked six аnimators to give them their “reading” of six pieces of contemporary Bulgarian poetry by four writers.

Visualizing poetry in an animated short film takes the viewer on an emotional journey not so much through the text, as through its visual interpretation by the artist. The animations came out powerful, original and hard to forget. Some of them play abstract, others speak straightforward. All of them are marked by outstanding and distinct style.

Vessela Dantcheva, animation director and co-founder of Compote Collective, says the a major motivation behind Mark and Verse has been to create a bridge between two arts, poetry and animation, fusing them in a new art form – visual poetry. The animated poems are by Georgi Gospodinov, Dimitar Voev, Dilyan Elenkov and Kaloyan Pramatarov. The directors are Asparuh Petrov, Milen Vitanov, Boris Despodov, Ivan Bogdanov, Dmitry Yagodin and Boris Pramatarov.
