Festival Opera Open 2015
World opera singers arrive in Bulgaria for OPERA OPEN summer festival at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv. State Opera Plovdiv presents a musical feast in the tradition of Arena di Verona and other prestigious open air festivals. The Ancient Roman arena provides a natural scenery and a unique atmosphere for holding events. In 2014 OPERA OPEN was joined by stars like Paata Burchuladze, Hui He, Elisabet Strid and Kamen Chanev - soloists of world opera stages like La Scala, Arena di Verona, the Bolshoi Theatre and the Wagner Festival in Bayreuth.
19/06/2015 – 9:00 p.m.-Opening with the attendance of Orlin Atanasov at the Ancient Theatre.
Anastassov was born in Russe, a city in northeastern Bulgaria. Both his parents were opera singers. He made had his operatic debut at the age of 20 as The King of Egypt in Aida at the Rousse State Opera. He won First Prize in the 1999 Operalia competition,and went on to make his debut at La Scala in Milan as Don Basilio in the The Barber of Seville that same year. He has since returned there as Timur in Turandot (2004), as Ramfis in Aida (2007), and in the title role of Attilla (2011).He has also performed at The Royal Opera House in London, New York's Metropolitan Opera House,the Vienna Staatsoper and other major houses around the world.
