Jazz has been part of Plovdiv’s traditions and culture for decades. Plovdiv Jazz Fest is the successor of a ten-year tradition: It took over from the Plovdiv Jazz Evenings festival and each November welcomes some of the world’s most influential jazz artists. A string of attending events - masterclasses, jam sessions and exhibitions, among other features - will complement the main programme this year. A prize for 'lifetime achievement in jazz' has been set up, and there will be a competition for young jazz performers.

PLOVDIV JAZZ FEST 2018 (31 OCTOBER – 3 NOVEMBER)

The first performers at Plovdiv Jazz Fest 2018 (31 October – 3 November) have already been announced: Eliane Elias will open the festival on 31 October, and Jan Garbarek will close it on 3 November. The main concerts will take place at the Boris Hristov House of Culture. There will be jam sessions and attending events at the BeeBop Café. Plovdiv Jazz Fest will again bestow its lifetime achievement prize, which has previously been awarded to awarded Ognyan Videv and Veselin Nikolov. The festival will encourage young talents at the traditional Young Musicians Jazz Competition.

Special guests in this year edition are also Dave Holland Quartet, Dena DeRose, Theodosii Spassov & Vlatko Stefanovski.
