REGIONAL ETHNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM - PLOVDIV
presents
"DOCHEVI ARTISTS - FATHER AND SONS"
Exhibition of Asen, Boris and Petar Dochevi
Welcome from 1 to 30 September 2021 in the Regional Ethnographic Museum - Plovdiv to view a unique exhibition showing the art of a family of artists and the creative expression of each of them. In the collected works can be traced the artistic expression and moods of talents born in the first half of the twentieth century, and continuing to work to this day. This is the picturesque heritage of one of the few artistic families in Plovdiv.
Asen Dochev (1900 - 1969) graduated from the Academy of Arts in Sofia, taught at the Pedagogical Institute in Plovdiv and thus remained living in the city. Zlatyu Boyadzhiev's first friend and godfather, with whom he traveled around Italy for a whole month and absorbed the art of Renaissance artists. He painted churches and monumental canvases, but was also a master of portraiture and landscape - a classical painter.
Artists often gather in his home, and his sons inevitably "take in" the air from these creative gatherings.
Boris Dochev (born 1934) together with his friend and classmate Hristo Yavashev illustrate the school wall newspaper and are the only students admitted to the Society of South Bulgarian Artists - Plovdiv. In 1953 he entered the Academy of Arts, and after graduating he worked as a teacher of painting. His historical works are an integral part of the exhibition "Bulgarian Revival" in the Regional Museum of History - Plovdiv, the museum in Koprivshtitsa, the Art Gallery in Dobrich and others.
Petar Dochev (born 1941) became part of the circle of South Bulgarian artists, especially his friendship with Dimitar Kirov, who also organized one of the large joint exhibitions of the Dochevi family. Unlike his father and brother, Peter works avant-garde and shares the searches of the young Plovdiv talents (G. Bozhilov - The Elephant, Di Kiro, etc.). The artist's works are in the City Gallery of Fine Arts - Plovdiv, private galleries and collectors.
This is a family whose work spans two centuries. Three people who present their emotions, thoughts and shares on the canvas in different ways.
The exhibition is part of the European Heritage Days initiative.
The opening will take place on September 16, 2021.
You are welcome!
