The famous pianist Brad Meldau is a guest with his trio at the seventh Plovdiv Jazz Fest
The seventh edition of the Plovdiv Jazz Fest will be held between 29 and 31 October 2021.

In these last days of October Hall of culture "Boris Hristov" will become stage for the concerts of two winners of the "Grammy" Award in two consecutive evenings and for one very special project that will happen only once and will open the festival.

The full program of the festival will be announced soon, but the first highlight is the final concert (31 October at 20:00 h.) of the virtuoso trio of American jazz pianist Brad Meldau.

After nominations over the past 25 years, in 2020 Brad Mehldau was awarded for the first time with "Grammy". He received the prestigious award in the category of "Best Instrumental Jazz Album" for Finding Gabriel.

The pianist is undoubtedly one of the most profound and influential jazz musicians today. He will arrive in Plovdiv with two jazz stars - bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Jeff Ballard. The band has had concerts around the world since the mid-90s. At the same time, Meldau developed his solo career, but a solid part of his work is connected with his trio.

Today, his discography as a leader includes 25 albums, and another 10 have been created in collaboration.

For the past three decades, in addition to his band, he has worked with a number of iconic jazz musicians such as Joshua Redman, Pat Metheny, Charlie Haden, Lee Konitz, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Mark Turner and others. He has recorded with Michael Brecker, Wayne Shorter, John Scofield and Charles Lloyd.

The latest album by Brad Meldau and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra was released earlier this summer. The musical language of the works in Variations on a Melancholy Theme is a combination of classical form with jazz harmonies. This project was first performed live at Carnegie Hall in 2013. Last year, he released his solo album Suite: April 2020.

Meldau's music has been featured in several films, including Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut and Wim Wender’s Million Dollar Hotel. He composes and the entire soundtrack to the French film "Ma Femme Est Une Actrice".

Brad Mehldau is remarkable improvizator that with great interest combines jazz, classical and pop music. With ashto so however he deals very seriously with music and rhitektura of their works. At work he often compares and combines end bilities. Between improvisation and formalism, Meldau manages to create an effect of controlled chaos. His performances are a truly intense experience.

Due to the conditions in which Plovdiv Jass Fest is held this year, the capacity of the hall will not be reduced, but the public access will be carried out only with valid documents for vaccination or illness of COVID-19.
It is also necessary to present an identity document with which to compare the names.
The third option remains a negative PCR test done up to 72 hours before the start of the concert or an antigen test done up to 48 hours before the concert.
The doors open at 7:00 pm so that the entry of the public can be facilitated.

· Children up to 12 years of age enter free of charge and without a Digital Certificate;
· Children between 12 and 18 years of age enter with a ticket without a Digital Certificate.

During the Plovdiv Jazz Fest (October 29, 30 and 31) the laboratory of the Medicus Alpha Clinic (at 21 Veliko Tarnovo Street, next to the Singing Fountains), which is located next to the Hall of Culture “Boris Hristov”, provided the opportunity for the audience of Plovdiv Jazz Fest to receive a 50% discount on the price of antigen tests.
Thus, their price becomes BGN 20.
✦ The laboratory provides an additional team and a green corridor for our guests from 16:00 h. to 17:00 h. each day of the festival.
✦ During the rest of the working hours, guests of the festival will be received again, but they will need to plan more time, as the laboratory is very busy.

Detailed description:
A green digital certificate can be obtained from the system for vaccination (with the number of vaccinations made according to the type of vaccine for COVID-19) and for recovery from COVID-19. It is only available for those who have had a coronavirus infection and are listed as confirmed cases with a positive PCR result in the National COVID-19 Registry. The certificate is valid from the 15th to the 180th day from the date of the first positive result of the PCR test for COVID-19.

Individuals with negative PCR test or a rapid antigen test may also receive an EU DIGITAL COVID CERTIFICATE for COVID-19 testing. The certificate is valid until the 72nd hour from the date of test for the PCR test and up to the 48th hour from the date of testing for the rapid antigen test for COVID-19. Upon request, the certificate is provided to the person from the laboratory that performed the test.
