New edition of the exhibition "Plovdiv Citizens" in the gallery "Kapana"

The exhibition "Plovdiv Citizens" - part of a long-term curatorial project of Kostadin Otonov together with the Union of Plovdiv Artists will start with a opening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on November 17 in the gallery "Kapana".

The presentation of talented artists who connected their creative biographies with Plovdiv dates back to 9 years ago, when in the first exhibition "100x100 Plovdiv residents" a dozen authors presented one of their paintings in 100 x 100 cm format in the small gallery "A +".

Gradually the number of authors grew and approached one hundred. The title of the project exhibitions changed ("Plovdiv ladies", "100x100 +", "50x50"), the city also: Plovdiv, Pazardzhik, Dimitrovgrad. The size of the works also changed, but the rule that they should be in the shape of a square remained unchanged.

The square is among the most perfect basic geometric shapes, it gave the basis of even the eternal Egyptian pyramids. But it is also a form of modern times, it plays with the avant-garde art of the early twentieth century. The square provides endless opportunities for artists to compose the images that their imagination creates.

The exhibition "Plovdiv Citizens" is realized with the financial support of the Municipality of Plovdiv and is part of the Cultural Calendar for 2021.

It can be viewed until December 7. Admission is free.

Authors and visitors will be admitted only if they have a green certificate or a valid negative COVID-19 test.​
