Exhibition "To be continued" - Gallery "L'UNION" visits the City Gallery of Fine Arts

December 1 - 21, 2021
Temporary Exhibitions Halls, 15 Knyaz Alexander I Str., Plovdiv

L’UNION Gallery will show part of its collection at the City Gallery on the occasion of its 20th birthday

From December 1, the famous Plovdiv Gallery L’UNION DE PARIS will visit the Temporary Exhibitions Halls of the City Gallery, 15 Knyaz Alexander I Street, with the exhibition “To be continued”. The event fits into the long tradition of the City Art Gallery - Plovdiv to present in its halls significant private collections, guided by its mission to promote Bulgarian art among a growing audience. The opening is from 17:00 to 19:30 h.
In 2021 Gallery L ’UNION - Plovdiv celebrates 20 years since its establishment. On this occasion, its owners have chosen to show works by some of the most prominent authors with whom the gallery has worked during the years of its development and who have actively contributed to the emancipation of Bulgarian art after the sixties of the twentieth century.

The exhibition presents a selection of 52 works by 16 artists. For the selection, the gallery owners emphasize the following:
"The selected artists (Atanas Parushev - Shoka, Vihroni Popnedelev, Georgi Baev, Genko Genkov, Dimitar Kazakov, Dimitar Buyukliyski, Dimitar Shopov, Dimitar Genchev, Encho Pironkov, Emil Stoychev, Ivan Vukadinov, Kolyo Karamfilov, Rumen Zhekov, Rosen Railov , Stoyan Tsanev) are among the most established names in our art. They are representatives of different creative generations, with different individuality, character and style orientation. The selection aims to highlight both the leading trends in Bulgarian art from the second half of the twentieth century and the preference of L’UNION gallery owners for the hierarchy of artistic values and plastic achievements of the time.

Although the interests of collectors are focused on authors working in the tradition of classical modernism, they actively support contemporary artists such as Atanas Parushev, Kolyo Karamfilov, Rumen Zhekov (the last two working in the field of conceptual expression), who began their development at the end of 80s of the XX century, whose creative views are common in terms of painting. As a result of the search for new means of expression, Dimitar Shopov, to whom the gallery owners have been focusing since 2014, is also developing his projects.

In the current exhibition, the young artist Dimitar Genchev is presented. Through his works, Genchev tempts us to peek into the mysterious world of abandoned production enterprises created by him - a topic that reveals the impact of time.
