Exhibition period: December 21, 2021 - April 30, 2022
Venue: Regional Archaeological Museum - Plovdiv, Hall IX - Temporary exhibitions
On December 21, 2021 in RAM - Plovdiv is presented an exhibition on "Philippopolis - Plovdiv in the second half of the the 12 - early 13 century"
Plovdiv is described as the largest and richest city in today's Bulgarian lands during this period. Archaeological research confirms the written data and significantly enriches our perception of the city.
Information boards and finds tell about certain aspects of life in Philippopolis - buildings, streets, life, crafts, religion, trade, entertainment, jewelry, weapons. The presented exhibits are the most attractive finds from this period, discovered during archeological excavations in the last 10 years, among them are objects brought from distant lands. Photographs of archeological situations, emblematic finds and images, a city plan and an artistic reconstruction complete the story of this short but remarkable period in the history of Plovdiv.
