Plovdiv has been nominated for European Best Destination 2022 in the 13th edition of the prestigious European Best Destinations ranking. Plovdiv is the only Bulgarian nomination and is competing alongside London, Rome, Vienna, Istanbul, Athens, Prague and others.

European Best Destination is a ranking of specially selected European cities with a rich cultural and historical heritage, sustainability and quality of life, organized by the leading website for tourism in Europe - EuropeanBestDestinations.com. This edition will be held in partnership with the European Commission's EDEN network and media partners Forbes US and Condé Nast Travelers.

"This nomination is a recognition of the efforts made by the local government and the tourism sector in further developing Plovdiv as a tourist destination. This is also an opportunity to highlight to the international community not only our city, but also Bulgaria," stated Zdravko Dimitrov, Mayor of Plovdiv.
