Georgi Chapkanov through the eyes of Ivan Bakalov
The sculptor Georgi Chapkanov - in a collection of photo portraits by Ivan Bakalov will show Kapana Gallery in February

From February 1 to 25, 2022, the PhotoFactory Foundation presents the photographic exhibition "Georgi Chapkunov through the eyes of Ivan Bakalov" at the Kapana Gallery at the City Art Gallery - Plovdiv.

The journalist and photographer Ivan Bakalov photographed our famous sculptor in his studio at different times for several decades. Bakalov's lens captures Chapkanov's work over the years, the atmosphere in his studio and his works, even before they met with the public. Bakalov managed to document the process of making some of the most famous sculptures of Georgi Chapkanov, including those of Radoi Ralin and Yordan Radichkov.

In addition to photographs, the exhibition will feature several plastic works by Chapkanov, provided by private collections. The City Gallery of Fine Arts will show the sculptural portrait of the famous Plovdiv collector Dimitar Indzhov from his collection.

Georgi Chapkanov (Chapa) is the winner of a series of awards.
Ivan Bakalov is a journalist, photographer, founder, author and editor of the site e-vestnik.bg.
