The famous Bulgarian illustrator Boris Stoilov celebrates his 60 years anniversary with a large exhibition at the City Gallery

The famous Bulgarian illustrator Boris Stoilov will celebrate his 60th bithday with a retrospective of his rich oeuvre at the City Gallery of Fine Arts - Plovdiv from 1 to 22 of March. The exhibition opening is on the eve of Baba Marta Day at 18:00 in the Temporary Exhibition Halls on 15 Knyaz Alexander I St. At the same time, the artist counts 30 years of devoted work in the field of illustration. In this period, the artist has created over 1300 book covers and many fully illustrated titles - in black and white and full color illustrations, and has drawn thousands of illustrations. For the exhibition he has selected works from the last decade.

Boris Stoilov was born in Plovdiv in 1962. He graduated from the National High School of Performing and Screen Arts - Plovdiv (Stage Arts), and in 1989 he graduated with a degree in Graphic Arts from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia.

His works have been part of numerous national and international exhibitions. Since 1990 he has focused his interests on applied graphics - print advertising, book design and layout. He has worked with some of the largest Bulgarian publishers Hristo G. Danov and Hermes, as well as the foreign publishers Edition les Intouchables (Montreal, Canada), Editions Michel Quintin-Waterloo (Quebec, Canada), Steaua Nordolui (Romania), Eduard Publishing House (Romania).

Much of his work over the years has been devoted to children's books (some 500 titles). "Golden Feather", "Once Upon a Time", "Eternal Bulgarian Fairy Tales", "1001 Nights Tales", "Masters of the Fairy Tale", etc. His work for several foreign publishers in Europe and North America is also related to children's books.

He has won prestigious Bulgarian and international awards for illustration. He is a member of The Union of Bulgarian Painters. Currently he lives and works in Plovdiv.
