CABRAQIMERA is a stage piece for a skating quartet addressing a physical and technological contemporaneity. This is the dizzying reality of the "here and now", in which technology accelerates the passage of time to explosive dimensions. Are we really no longer on the brink of risk, looking for a way to keep up with events, tasks and our environment?

The Portuguese dancers respond to the challenge by roller skating, while neon lighting effects reveal different spaces and moods. Along with plastic and hypnotic means of expression and gestures, the quartet draws an extreme projection of the "other" body and opens the door to imagination and fiction. The stage space, inspired by speed sports, encodes activities, intersections, and casual encounters. And why not topics for reflection, such as the need for more efficient bodies in today's high-speed world?

Choreographer Catarina Miranda combines dance, scenography, and light to turn the stage into a place where one can understand the present. She saturates her work with imagery and dramatic inspiration from the so-called Hypnagogic hallucinations - cognitive changes and visions that occur during the transitions between wakefulness and REM sleep.

ABOUT CATARINA MIRANDA:
Miranda has recently finished the Master on Choreography EXERCE at ICI-CCN Montpellier/France, and the studies in NOH Theatre at TTT Program in Kyoto. She is graduated in Visual Arts at the Fine Arts School of Porto’s University/PT. She presented the following stage pieces/performances: BOCA MURALHA at Palais de Tokyo / Paris, during the Festival DO DISTURB 2019; at Porto’s National Theatre Carlos Alberto in 2017; at Materiais Diversos and Circular Festivals during 2016; DREAM IS THE DREAMER at DDD Festival 2019 in Porto, Portugal.MAZEZAM at Serralves Museum, during the Festival THE MUSEUM AS PERFORMANCE 2018; and at AltesFinanzamt, Berlin in 2013; REIPOSTO REIMORTO at Porto’s Municipal Theatre in 2015.
