The Academy for Music Education Association and Plovdiv 2019 Foundation invite the students of Plovdiv to the project "Poets and Music" from the "Heritage II" program of Plovdiv - European Capital of Culture 2019.

The project aims to introduce the work of Bulgarian poets, writers and composers in an attractive way to the adolescents of Plovdiv by creating a series of contemporary performances in partnership with Opera Plovdiv, presenting them to the student audience and distributing them in the form of educational videos to support the teaching of literature and music in Plovdiv schools.

In the first event of the project, Plovdiv students will attend the premiere of the opera "Chichovtsi" by Lazar Nikolov based on the novel of the same name by Ivan Vazov, preceded by a talk with a musicologist about the relationship between Bulgarian prose and music, as well as a meeting with the young production team.

The performances in the creative-educational platform "Poets and Music" are thematically focused - poets of our time, and will meet the young audience with authors such as Valery Petrov, Georgi Gospodinov, Mirjana Basheva, etc., and composers such as Georgi Arnaudov, Petar Dundakov, Lyubomir Pipkov, etc.

The series will feature actors recognizable by the students such as Zahari Baharov, Boyko Krystanov, Vlado Penev, Teodora Duhovnikova, Yulian Vergov and other colleagues from the platform "The Poets", as well as Plovdiv musicians from Opera Plovdiv, talents from the schools of the "Academy for Music Education", soloists from the Plovdiv Music School - NUMTI.
