Easter Celebrations in Plovdiv 2022
A three-day festive program will delight Plovdiv residents for Easter on the stage in front of the municipality
This year the Municipality of Plovdiv is preparing a programme to create a festive mood for locals and guests of the city in the long weekend on the occasion of the upcoming holiday - the Resurrection of Christ - Easter - the biggest, holiest holiday for Orthodox Christians, also called "the feast of all holidays".
Beautiful Easter eggs will again be placed on the green area next to the blossoming magnolia in front of the Plovdiv Municipality building. This year they are decorated with much love and talent by the graduates of the National School of Performing and Screen Arts in Plovdiv. They recreate their Easter stories on 10 egg models ranging in size from 70 cm to 1.20 m. For several years now, the place with the painted eggs has become a favorite photo area for Plovdiv residents. The tradition of placing thematic holiday decorations in front of one of the most visited places in the central part of Plovdiv continues this year.
On the stage at Stefan Stambolov Square there will be six free concerts within three days. Studio "Musical Wave", Folk Dance Ensemble "Dilyanka", "Big Band - Plovdiv", "Wind Orchestra - Plovdiv" and Rock Group "Sutura" will perform. The first event is a gift from the Embassy of India in Sofia - the performance "Bharatanatyam, India". The performance is a long prepared cultural and educational project on the tradition of Sanskrit drama and theatre. For this purpose, two of the finest artists and teachers in the millennial tradition - Alok Pandey and Purnima Pandey are training students from NATFIZ and NBU in "Bharatanatyam" - one of the styles of classical Sanskrit theatre. The project is a collaboration between the educational institutions, the Indian Embassy in Sofia and the East-West Indological Foundation (EWIF).
