"Pains of the Soul" is a solo performance that explores the suffering and loneliness of a woman in whose life past and present, reality and illusion begin to intertwine. It is a performance which provokes us to look from the outside in and from the inside out. A performance in which everyone can find a piece of themselves and rediscover their soul. The show is saturated with upwardly building events that transport the viewer into the inner world of a woman in distress. They are transported into her soul, filled with torment and anguish. "Bergman's high intellect is in this woman who finds it difficult to exist in this life. She blames herself for being complicated, for imagining. But that's what makes her interesting. A complexity, a busyness makes a person curious. It makes you stare at him. Simplification leads to sameness," says Sasha Bratanova. "The soul is not seen, it is felt. The text tries to awaken the soul... I hope, watching the performance, everyone will see some of their problems and get enlightenment on how to solve them," says the great actress.
"Treat yourself to this work by Bergman, because it's not something that can be seen often! There are exceptional artists out there and we shouldn't miss the opportunity to experience their work!" shares Robert Yanakiev.
The performance is a co-production of Sofia Puppet Theatre and Vazrazhdane Theatre, by arrangement with Joseph Weinberger Ltd, London, on behalf of the Ingmar Bergman Foundation.
