The opening of the exhibition "FESTUM" by the artist Doncho Donchev will be placed on May 31, 2022, at 6 pm. This is a project he has been working on for a long time. The exhibition is an art series composed of mythological playing cards and the author's texts. The artist is inspired by the cards' history, symbolism, graphic meaning, and mystique. The exhibition will present original illustrations, texts and several works of art on this topic.
Doncho Donchev was born in Gabrovo, Bulgaria. He graduated from the National High School of Applied Arts in Tryavna and Painting at the University of Veliko Tarnovo "St. St. Cyril and Methodius”. He specializes in animation at Nu Boyana Film Studios. A diverse author who is not satisfied with establishing a style. He works with various materials, paints in front of an audience, makes illustrations, paintings, sculptures, and interactive projects.
At the opening of "FESTUM" Doncho Donchev will present his book "#Persona Satyricona". A book that travels through time and presents 101 great persons from different eras, opposing characters, radically different in their views, seemingly illogically compared to each other. What connects Mozart with Mohamed Ali or Bill Gates with Marilyn Monroe? This is the world of labels, the world we live in, the world that guides us and tells destinies. The world of hashtags! A personal story with a ridiculous incident sent the author to the beginning and provoked the creation of pencil drawings. He sees the pencil as a creator of form and a diverse narrator.
