Balkan Theater of Shadows in Plovdiv

In two days Plovdiv became the stage of the Theater of Shadows from the Balkans. Ancient art with over 500 years of history will come to life with performances by actors from Greece and Turkey. The visit of the troupes of Odysseus Canlis from Thessaloniki and Denise Carallar from Istanbul begins on May 26 with an open-air theatrical and artistic celebration.

From 4 pm to 6 pm in Tsar Simeon's Garden / Vienna Pavilion / young and old will meet the actors, play and make with them the unique flat puppets for the Theater of Shadows. Music, dances, surprises and prizes await all who share the holiday, organized by the Association "Artevision" with the financial support of the Municipality of Plovdiv.

The festive marathon continues on May 27 with theatrical performances - a gift for the people of Plovdiv. From 16.00 in the House of Science and Technology is the performance of the actors from the Karagiozis Theater, Greece. At 5.30 pm the performance of the guests from Karagöz Theater, Turkey, starts.

Spectators of both performances will be immersed in the magic of stage characters and characters from around the world through the educational film "In the world of theatrical puppets."

All events are under the project "Balkan Theater of Shadows in Plovdiv". The event is part of the City's Cultural Calendar for 2022.
