The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Bulgaria invites Plovdiv residents to free screenings of Korean cinema.
June 10 and 11, Lukcy Cinema House
Admission is free, the movies are subtitled in Bulgarian

On June 10 at 6.30 pm we will see the film "Escape from Mogadishu", and on June 11 at 3 pm - the film "Forbidden Dream". Screenings of the films will be accompanied by a photo exhibition presenting Korean traditional architecture.


Escape from Mogadishu

Republic of Korea, 2021, with Bulgarian subtitles, 2h.

Starring: Kim Yong-sok, Joe Ying-sung, Hu Jun-ho and others.

"Escape from Mogadishu" is an impactful thriller based on real events from 1991. The action takes place in Mogadishu - the capital of Somalia, which at the time was in a civil war. The embassies of both the Republic of Korea and the DPRK are seeking to join the United Nations, but they need the voice of Somalia. There are tense moments, dynamic twists and a single, unifying goal - escape. Fine humor, acting and energetic directing have earned the film numerous awards on the world stage.


Forbidden Dream

Starring: Khan Suk-gyu, Choi Min-shik and others.

Forbidden Dream is a historical drama based on real personalities from the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1897). The film presents the relationship between King Sejong - the most famous ruler of the dynasty and one of the most prominent figures in Korean history and a scientist, inventor and engineer. The film is an inspiring story about the power of the mind and the achievement of the great ruler's goals, namely to put Joseon on the map of the world, create his cultural identity and give impetus to the development of science.
