The lighted roads - 90 years of traces of the art of Ivan Kirkov

Ivan Kirkov is a representative of the generation of artists who brought about the great change in Bulgarian art in the early 1960s. The aspiration and search for new forms and means of expression made him one of the most discussed artists. Provocative, experimenting in different fields, brilliant with his intellect, thinking artist - this is Prof. Ivan Kirkov.

The project "THE LIGHTED ROADS - 90 YEARS FROM THE ART OF IVAN KIRKOV" will bring together students of the great artist and aims to perpetuate high-value artistic traditions and pass them on as aesthetic norms and taste to adolescents with an aspiration for innovation, development and accessibility to all forms and artistic practices. This symposium and project is a tribute to the work of the artist and his many years of teaching. Meetings with young artists and visually impaired artists will be organized. The symposium will operate on an open-door basis, with the visual artists' working process observable in real time by viewers and visitors. They will introduce them to their national and international participations, concepts and creative explorations.

Participants in the symposium are: Atanas Parushev-Shoka, Vesko Velev, Darina Tsureva, Dinko Stoev, Dolores Dilova, Krassimir Tsanov, Mariana Marinova, Marta Levcheva, Petko Petkov, Chavdar Marinov and others.
The participants in the symposium will work in the creative studios of TRACART PARK and the paintings created during the project will be included in a joint exhibition in the exhibition spaces in TRACART PARK, which will open on 5 June 2022 in TRACART PARK

PROGRAMME

On June 1, 2022 - Children's Day, a Children's Workshop "Read and Draw" will be held in TRACART PARK at 16.00 with children's stories illustrated by Ivan Kirkov. This event is dedicated to children's creativity, a major direction in the author's art.

On June 2, 2022, the program of the symposium participants includes a visit to the Great Bishop's Basilica of Philippopolis, Trakart Cultural Center-Museum, Trakart Research Center-Museum.

On June 5, 2022 - Exhibition of works created during the Symposium by the participants - students of Prof. Ivan Kirkov. A permanent exhibition with 110 works by prof. Ivan Kirkov in TRACART PARK, a newly opened space for the presentation of contemporary art and park environment. The collection is owned by the Trakart-2000 Foundation - Plovdiv.

The aim of the project is to promote the art of the great Bulgarian artist prof. Ivan Kirkov and to promote his contribution to contemporary Bulgarian art.


THE PROJECT "THE LIGHTED ROADS - 90 YEARS AFTER THE ART OF IVAN KIRKOV" is realized by Trakart-2000 Foundation, Plovdiv with the financial support of the National Culture Fund, under the Visual Arts 2021 Programme.
