The exhibition "The Apron - Symbol and Apotropaic" remains on display at REM - Plovdiv until the end of June.
The exhibition presents the rich collection of textiles of Prof. Julia Dilova and in particular the place and role of the apron in women's traditional clothing. You will understand why this element of a woman's costume is so important, why it is in different colors, what the symbols on it mean, its ritual functions and what its other names are. You will immerse yourself in a colorful world with meaning and history.
The exhibition aims to present the importance of heritage ... Be it a thing, a song, a tradition, we grow up with it, carry it within us and pass it on to generations to come. It gives us unsuspected power, enriches us and allows us to touch times often unfamiliar to us. Heritage helps us shape our identity, teaches us to value history.
With this project, the Regional Ethnographic Museum - Plovdiv hopes to give more publicity to collecting and donation, as a good practice for the preservation of cultural and historical heritage.
The project includes the latest edition of the museum catalog "With love to the woven", which presents the rest of the great collection of Prof. Julia Dilova - donated to the Regional Ethnographic Museum - Plovdiv by her daughter Tsvetina Erokhina.
The exhibition catalog are part of the official program "Heritage II" of Plovdiv - European Capital of Culture.
