Cultural seminar "THE UNKNOWN" 2022

With utmost pleasure we have started the countdown to the 4th edition of our Cultural Symposium ‘THE UNKNOWN’!

The focus of the fourth edition of this Symposium is on the communities of the Danube Vlachs, Tatars and Gagauz. On the second day of the forum there is an opportunity to present the results of research on a more general issue – Heritage: Community knowledge and sustainability.
Main goal of the Seminar is to present the cultural diversity in Bulgaria and to promote its research, knowledge and preservation. The real experience and multi-sensory coexistence with the cultural practices and heritage of different (ethno-confessional/ linguistic/ regional) communities and groups in Bulgaria helps us to understand them whereas the scientific reflection and understanding of those communities contribute to their preservation, validation and transmission to the next generations.

Official Symposium partners are:
- Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts ‘Prof. Assen Diamandiev’ – Plovdiv;
- Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IEFSEM – BAS);
- Department of Ethnology at the Faculty of Philosophy and History – ‘Paisii Hilendarski” University of Plovdiv;
- Plovdiv Regional Ethnographic Museum.

Working languages of the conference are Bulgarian and English.
