THE SUCCESSFUL: Meeting with Ivo Ivanov

The "Successful" series is launched. It is held with the assistance of the Municipality of Plovdiv. The event will introduce young people to prominent professionals from various fields, such as sports, cinema, theater, literature, journalism. The first guest is Ivo Ivanov - the favorite of many fans of Bulgarian literature, author of the short story collection "The Curve of Happiness". He will be visiting on Friday at 19:00 with free admission, and in addition to meeting the guests and sharing his rich experience, he will also present his new book "Chronicle of Pain".

In his career, Ivanov writes for various media, and his stories are specific and among the most recognizable to the public. In 2014, Vakon publishing house published his book "The Curve of Happiness", which made him one of the most read and loved Bulgarian authors. His texts are specific and non-standard, often surprising the reader with unexpected metaphors, special structure and coded messages.

His experimental style is somewhat influenced by the gonzo journalism of Hunter Thompson, but has his own, unique sound. Even when covering an ordinary sporting event or the achievements of a relatively unknown athlete, Ivo Ivanov does so in a way that looks for common human conclusions and effortlessly provokes the asking of important, existential questions.

In 1990, Ivanov graduated from the National Academy of Sciences, after which he went to pursue a master's degree in the USA. He started writing texts in 1987 for his hometown newspaper "Start". He also collaborates with "Naroden Sport" and other Bulgarian publications. Later he also published numerous articles and essays in the American press. Over the years, he worked with Bulgarian media such as BNT, in "7 days of sport", in "Telegraf", "Travel & Extreme Explorer" magazine, "Top Gear" magazine, "Bela" magazine, Sportal.bg, offnews .bg and many others. Ivo lives and works in Lawrence (Kansas, USA).

This is the first event in the "The Successful" series. If we ask ten people what "success" is, we'll probably get ten different answers. Whether we are talking about material, professional or family success, some individuals clearly impress us with what they have achieved. They pique our curiosity, wanting to know more about their philosophy, motivations, circumstances, or just how lucky they were. Therefore, the project team decided to meet you with seven people whom we sincerely admire.

Guests will share about the journey to the goals they once dreamed of. About the qualities they needed and the mistakes they made. We do not believe that there is one "secret" to success, but we are convinced that the wisdom and inspiration from their example will awaken courage and desire to change.

Through the end of the year, the Successful event series will introduce you to seven more inspiring names. The project is implemented with the support of the Plovdiv Municipality and is part of the city's Cultural Calendar for 2022.
