Old Town Festival - Doors in Time with a rich program and a big bow to Nacho Culture.

For the 11th time, during a whole week from September 12 to 18, the houses and spaces of the Old Town will come alive with events dedicated to the promotion of the spiritual and historical heritage of the Three Hills. "Holidays of the Old Town" in 2022 are under the motto "Doors in Time". The rich cultural and historical heritage of Old Plovdiv was formed as a result of the continuous life in the city for centuries - from prehistory to the present day and combines in itself the spirit and architecture of Antiquity, the Middle Ages and the Bulgarian Renaissance. The old town is certainly one of the most popular tourist destinations in Plovdiv and in Bulgaria.

The 2022 edition of "Holidays of the Old Town" is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Atanas Krastev - Nacho Culture. His name became synonymous with large-scale construction that revived the old part of Plovdiv and turned it into a home of the artistic and creative spirit.

On September 12th, a documentary photo exhibition prepared by the staff of OI "Ancient Plovdiv" will be opened, entitled "Nacho and the City". The official opening of "Holidays of the Old Town 2022" begins at 8 p.m. with the concert-performance "Doors in Time" of the Ancient Theater, which is a gift to the people of Plovdiv and, as every year, will have free admission.

In the program of the concert, we will see performances by the participants of the Art and Education Consortium. The national autumn exhibitions are one of the most prestigious forums for contemporary Bulgarian fine art with over fifty years of history. They are a key event in the Cultural Calendar of Plovdiv, organized by the Municipality of Plovdiv. Artistic director and curator of the event is Prof. Dr. Galina Lardeva.

For another year, OI "Ancient Plovdiv" has partnered with the "Blue Zone" Association, which unites artists in disadvantaged situations from all over the country. The project supports the social integration, education, spiritual development and public performance of artists with permanently reduced working capacity.
