Autumn Craft Fair 2022
September 15, 2022 - September 18, 2022 (inclusive) - Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday on Suborna Street/ Old Town/, as a side event of the "Old Town Festival".
The autumn edition of the "Crafts Fair - Shevitsa, code for memory" will be from September 15 to 18 on Saborna Street in the Old Town. The event is traditionally organized by the Regional Crafts Chamber - Plovdiv with the support of the Municipality of Plovdiv. The craft is financed by the Annual Program for the Development of Tourism of the Municipality of Plovdiv for 2022 and with the support of Holding KCM 2000. The Autumn Craft Fair 2022 will be together with the Old Town Festival and the first edition of the new festival "Gourmet under the hill".
Over twenty masters from all over Bulgaria will make you feel the magic of crafts, with a presentation of author's creations and a demonstration of their craft: wood carving, jewelry making, leather products, stained glass, candle making , artistic ceramics and glass, making glass products by blowing, making art fabrics, art knitting, macrame, etc. Under the guidance of a master craftsman, the children will create in a thematic workshop, branded with the inscription "Children's workshop". Participation is free.
The highlight of the autumn edition will be the folk art craft "Vezbarstvo"or decoration of clothing, deeply connected with the life and traditions of our people. When embroidering Bulgarian folk needlework, highly artistic works are created, the result of hard work, patience and many skills. Аrtists who continue and popularize Bulgarian traditions in this beautiful craft will present one-day exhibitions and presentations. The first of them will present the specifics and intricacies of making Bulgarian embroidery. The components of traditional Bulgarian embroidery are: rhythm, symmetry and contrast; Selection, combination and processing of materials used in work; Types of motifs, colors which are essential for the unique Bulgarian folk costumes and many others.
The second presentation will be for the children. About the development and traditions of Bulgarian embroidery and regional and local diversity, the purpose and application of embroidery, types of stitches, characteristic colors and ornaments used in each embroidery. After each presentation in a creative workshop all children, citizens and visitors will have the opportunity to embroider.
