Hinko Hinkov – painting exhibition in “Aspect” gallery
Hinko Hinkov – painting exhibition
The first solo exhibition in the “Aspect” gallery for the spring season is the one made by Hinko Hinkov – an artist from Pleven. He is one of the artists with whom the gallerist Olga Petrova works trough the years. She made him popular in Plovdiv and this is his fifth own exhibition in the gallery. Hinko Hinkov is an interesting artist who is distinctive and self-taught. He didn’t go to the Art Academy but throughout his life he made his living as a freelance artist, learning from the big names of the school in Pleven. He is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists and has always been well received and respected in his field. He works mostly in the landscape, creating his own distinctive style that makes his work recognizable and unique.
In this exhibition Hinko Hinkov shows fifteen paintings, some of which are prepared specially for the present event. As always, he works from nature – all the paintings in the exhibition are landscapes of real places where the artist works on site, observes and makes sketches and then transfers the landscape on canvas. This old-fashioned way explains why Hinko is not a productive artist who depicts the same places but from a different angle. In the exhibition there are rural landscapes and nature paintings, but there are also some urban sceneries from his birthplace Pleven or places he has been to. His colleague Ivan Velchev – Iovo says for him: “His paintings are so down to earth and thus they are a tale full of familiar situations in different colors”. Iovo defines Hinko Hinkov as a neat artist which can be seen in his work. Visiting the “Aspect” gallery you get into a different world, filled with nostalgia and a bit of sadness but still beautiful and exciting.
