Concert of Iva Gidikova - "Part of me"
MONDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2022 FROM 7:00 PM
Ancient theater

Iva Gidikova presents the premiere of her album "Part of Me" in the city of Plovdiv on October 3.

The premiere of the album of the folk singer Iva Gidikova - "Part of me" will be presented to the residents and guests of the city of Plovdiv on October 3, Ancient Theater, from 7:00 p.m. In 2020, her first double solo album "Part of Me" was released with 21 songs - 13 from Pazardzhik and 8 folk-based authors, with music and lyrics by Iva Gidikova herself, processing and arrangement - Alexander Todorov, and in 2022 the album won first place in the "Singing" ranking of the BNR and Hristo Botev program, the Album of the Year category.
The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy the richly ornamented and beautiful Pazardzhik songs from the "grandmother's coffin" and Iva Gidikova's new author's songs from various folklore regions of Bulgaria, in each of which she puts a piece of her soul. In the arrangements, Alexander Todorov uses different musical techniques and means of expression for folklore, so that each one is presented according to its character - from folk-folk, through wedding to "ethnic".
The program of the concert will also include two new singles - "There... high" and "Lyulchina song", through which the singer will show herself in a slightly different light. "There...high" is an emotional outburst of the author, provoked by the rapprochement with nature in one of its purest essences. The bright meterless introduction, accompanied by a slightly mystical rhythmicity, overflows into the gentle melody of the verse and chorus. In the interlude, the power of nature is presented, with more "aggressive" musical expressive means. The interweaving of the characteristic folk motifs throughout the piece and their combination with means of expression from other genres clearly defines the piece as ETHNO-ROCK. The climax in the song, the union with nature; is expressed with the deep physical manifestations within the person, during the path and the arrival of the "top"! Our folk polyphonic chant is also interwoven after the climax and leads into the CODA. The ending brings us back to the mystical beginning of the play!
"Lullaby": The lullaby is an ancient way of transmitting sacred wisdom, information, lore, in our case, and prayer. The song is built by a voice accompanied by a vocal trio, which are the "backbone" of the piece. The melody is of great scope - a reference to the Gregorian type of singing, supported by orthodox harmony - intertwined with our traditional polyphony. To show the depth more clearly, a piano in its high tessitura is also used. We can hardly define the song by genre, because it includes the characteristic Bulgarian children's song "Lyuli, lyuli lyulchitsa", with a chorus similar to "Mnogoletie" - a variant of Bortnyanski, which is characteristic of Christian hymns. The instrumental part is not leading, but rather accompanying. The song doesn't emphasize any particular genre, rather it's a mix of them.
Special participants will be: Alexander Todorov (kaval), Marinela Rangelova, Tanya Stoeva, Tsonka Dimitrova (backing vocals), Ivan Georgiev (bagpipes), Borislav Galabov (guitar), Ivelin Bojanov (tambourine/guitar), Yavor Kumanov (accordion), Vladimir Velikov (piano), Zhivko Ivanov (drums).
