"CLAYPAUSE" exhibition by Roman Shedina
from September 7 to September 24
Halls for temporary exhibitions, 15 "Knyaz Alexander I" St
The famous Czech designer of porcelain and ceramics, Roman Shedina, will personally open the exhibition on September 7 at 6 p.m. in the City Art Gallery - Plovdiv /Temporary Exhibition Halls, second floor/ at 15 "Knyaz Alexander I" Street. The exquisite vases were already presented in Sofia in June and July, and in Burgas in August. The event is organized by the Czech Center in Sofia and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Sofia, represented by the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Plovdiv, Prof. Dr. Ivan Sokolov, together with the Municipality of Plovdiv and the City Art Gallery - Plovdiv. The CLAYPAUSE project is part of the cultural program organized on the occasion of the Czech Presidency of the EU Council in the second half of this year.
In 2019, LAUFEN PRAGUE GALLERY organized an exhibition of the Czech ceramic designer and artist Roman Shedina and several artists he invited, belonging to the current and upcoming generations. The exhibition explores why people are surrounded by ceramic vases and the passion behind it. We will not see the specific vase in the exhibition. Here it is perceived as a fragile, sometimes almost invisible or vice versa – an acceptable deformation. Essentially, these are perceptions that artists recreate with their original handwriting. The project is accompanied by texts, equal works of art, of significant personalities.

"The perfect vase is part of the story of each one of us. Imagine that what you experience in your life, you carry with you and your soul is filled with something that may or may not be beautiful. Like a mailbox for multiple recognitions, like a blank canvas that expects every single day to be filled with multiple experiences. Now, here and hereafter. It comes alive with us or waits for someone to stop and notice it... I love vases because they speak, they speak through the material from which they are made, through their shape, decor and size..." / Roman Shedina, from "The Life of a Vase" /
