This play was written by Brecht when he was 20 years old. In it, the comedic talent of the great German author was evident early on.
A young couple has gathered close people for a wedding celebration. Guests are also invited to view the newly furnished home. To make it cheaper for the young family, the groom made the furniture himself.
Thrift, an inalienable preoccupation of people of the guilds, regardless of nationality, is achieved, only as the wedding party examines the dwelling, the furniture begins to fall apart.
Here the young author builds a dramatic situation, which he later uses in other plays: The guests, at a wedding or other celebration, mock the hosts. The result can only be one - LAUGHTER.
