Concert of Lakis Tzimkas and Antoni Donchev
Unpublished works of maestro Milcho Leviev will be presented at another concert from the Chamber Scene Plovdiv platform with the participation of Antoni Donchev - piano and Lakis Tzimkas - double bass. The event is on October 23, Sunday, from 7:00 p.m. at Culture Hotspot Milcho Leviev - Ivan Chernozemski House at 5 Tsanko Lavrenov Street in the Old Town.
"CONVERSATION FROM THE PAST" is the latest project of the Greek composer, arranger and double bass player Lakis Tzimkas. The long talks, the conversations in the beloved Thessaloniki and the fruits of the deep communication between the two artists, today have been transformed into small musical masterpieces for double bass and piano, compiled in the album "CONVERSATION FROM THE PAST".
Once again, the music born from this collaboration comes to gift us with the boundless creativity of Milcho Leviev and his partner. The tracks on the album sound in an intimate, soothing musical and spiritual unison that can only be achieved by the blending of the energies of two true friends and the genius resonance of their instruments. If today the maestro could name the artist to replace him in the presentation of this project, the name would be only one, Antoni Donchev.
Lakis Tzimkas was born in Thessaloniki, Greece in 1968. He studied electric bass at the Jazz Conservatory in Thessaloniki in 1994. Later at the American Institute of Music in Vienna with Angus Thomas, Jonas Hellborg, Wayne Brassell. In 1995 he studied jazz double bass at the University of the Arts in Graz, Austria, with Wayne Darling, Ewald Oberleitner and Mark Dresser. In June 2000, he completed his studies and received a master's degree. Played with Sheila Jordan, Andy Shepherd, Milcho Leviev, Ivo Papazov, Chico Freeman, Rick Margitsa, Richie Morales, Airto Moreira, Glenn Ferris, Craig Bailey, Sakis Papadimitriou, Pantelis Stoikos, Mark Whitfield, Terrence Blanchard, Greg Hutchinson, Ari Hoenig, Justin Faulkner, Fabian Almazan, Teodosii Spasov, David Berkman, Tony Lakatos and many others.
