Kaloyan Kumanov is a virtuoso accordionist, interpreting a variety of styles and music from different eras, which he manages to uniquely connect with the sound of the accordion. After graduating from the Music Academy in Plovdiv, Kaloyan was accepted to the State University of Barcelona, where he specialized in music pedagogy and conducting. In the homeland of the corrida and flamenco, he became soloist and first accordion in the Sabadei Accordion Orchestra, conducted by Miguel Ángel Maestro. In this ensemble he toured not only all over Spain, but also as far as the Mendelssohn Music Theatre and the Johann Bach Halle in Leipzig. He teaches accordion, piano, solfege and choir at the Liceu Conservatory. He inspires his students at the Orfeo Grace Music School and at the Music Academy of Menorca Island, where he is also the first conductor of the Accordion Orchestra. He has made a name for himself as one of the few musicians in Europe to perform virtuoso classical works on the accordion, and has taken it as a personal mission to change attitudes towards this multi-faceted instrument. Kaloyan Kumanov returned to Plovdiv 5 years ago and in a short time managed to realize many significant projects that left a bright mark in the cultural life of the city.

The event is part of the Plovdiv Cultural Calendar for 2022.
