MEMORY OF CANTE JONDO
Regional History Museum - Plovdiv

Guitarist Dimitar Peev arrives from Chicago, Illinois, to perform a concert entitled "Memory of the Kante Hondo" at the historic Plovdiv's Unification Hall on October 19, 2022 at 7 pm. The program includes works for classical guitar by Federico Moreno Torroba, Joaquín Turina, Isaac Albeniz, Emilio Pujol, Angel Barrios and Manuel de Faija, as well as poems by Federico García Lorca, rendered in Bulgarian by Romero and delivered in the voice of Todor Dimitrov.
The musical and poetic event under the patronage of the Regional History Museum-Plovdiv is dedicated to the centenary of the First Contest /Festival/ of the cante hondo (ancient Andalusian chant, related to flamenco), held in Alhambra (Granada) on 13/14 June 1922, organised by the composer Manuel de Faya and the poet Federico García Lorca, and brought together for the first time famous singers and guitarists such as Diego Bermúdez, Manuel Torre, Manuel Ortega Juárez (Manolo Caracol), Pastora Pavón (La Niña de los Peñez), José Sepero, Ramón Montoya, Ninho Ricardo and Andrés Segovia.
